No Wonder They Don't Have Them

At the table...

Older boy: Have manners!

Little boy: What are they, anyway, manners?

Other Little boy: You know, like Meerkat Manor.

Someone Else: No, not that, like the Manna that rained from heaven.

Littlest Boy who Talks: Or the Portuguese Man-a war?
Well, it's Friday and I had said I would make this a private blog today. I still haven't figured out how to get around having more than one hundred readers on a private blog, though, so until I find a solution I will continue to post here. Thank you, again, for all your email. I am still working my way reading through them all and enjoying learning about you.

Thank you to reader, Nikki, who passed these Keens on to Jacob after not just one, but two of her sons wore them. These are in such great shape they look new and Jacob loves them!

Here they are hanging under the piano bench where Jacob spends hours every day.

...and on a swing...

...and in a tree.
Bring on the adventure, he's got the shoes for it now.
Thank you!

by Alex
(Drawn one scale at a time)

We'd both been feeling overworked, so Jeremy and I decided to use his birthday as an excuse to have a three day get away. We enjoyed perusing shops and art galleries in downtown Asheville and visiting the Basilica of St Lawrence. Also, touring the Biltmore mansion, the many gardens there, and the winery. We enjoyed good food and quiet conversation and just had a very pleasant time together.

We left the boys with my mother in law, who really made our trip possible. Many of my neighbors insisted I give her their numbers as they were skeptical that anyone could fill our shoes even for a few short days, but they don't know my mother in law. She managed wonderfully and the boys really enjoyed her visit. Thanks, Mom!

I've run into a bit of a technical problem. I see, now that I'm looking at it, that Blogger will not allow for more than 100 private readers. The problem is that I have already had a little over a hundred requests to continue reading here and I would like to honor all these requests and take more if they come.

So, my question is does anybody know of a way that I can set this blog or a new one to require initial registration like Fr Z has? At least I remember having to register at Fr. Z's site and it has never caused a problem for my feed reader the way a password does. I think that would be ideal. Any and all help would be appreciated.

It's been great, by the way, to hear from you! I've really enjoyed learning a little bit about you and hearing why you come to this tiny spot in cyberspace. Thank you all so much for your emails! I have enjoyed each and every one.

In exactly one week from today I will password protect this blog and make it officially a private family blog. I am not doing this for any reason other than that this is the direction I have been going in for some time and also because I'd like to open comments to family and friends. If you would like to continue reading here, send me an email. I won't turn anybody down. If it's my links you have been interested in, those will continue to be available at Google Reader, you can follow there. Thank you.

Jennifer Fulwiler has a great answer to the question, "Do you Want More Children?"

Zachary saw the row of babies beneath this title and said, "I take that as a YES!" I love how easily children see babies as unequivocally good. Many grown ups could take a cue.

Shout Out

I've been told that someone who reads this blog was looking for me at the Homeschool mass last month at St Catherine's. If you are reading this, please email me at the address in my sidebar. Thanks.

Nicholas reflects: There is somebody who looks just like me living in that mirror.

Kitty is a Girl

...and we've named her "Tipsy," because the very tip of her tail is white. Also, she often has hiccups. Thank you for all the name suggestions!
