Feast of the Assumption

On this day the sacred and life-filled Ark of the living god, she who conceived her Creator in her womb, rests in the Temple of the Lord that is not made with hands. David her Ancestor leaps, and with him the angels lead the dance.

--St John Damascene, (d. 749)

Happy Feast, Suzanne!

We Acadians have a special devotion to the Virgin Mary. Our national anthem is Ave Mary Stella, our flag has a gold star in the blue stripe to represent Mary, and our national holiday is on August 15th. It is celebrated everywhere with good acadian music, a tantamar parade, and a great time had by all... but the day always starts with a Mass to celebrate the Assumption of Mary.
