A daily insight into the joys of raising boys...and lots of them.
Ya know? I think you're right! It's a tomato, tomahto kind of thing.....
And I would cheerfully wear both right now. Because I am a slattern.
"Tunic" is codeword for "we've finally noticed that the majority of American women can't pull off wearing those teeny little t-shirts."
I wonder though, much as it looks maternity, could I fit my 8 or 9 months pregnant belly into it? Rachel Balducci had a funny post recently about the woes of being deceived by such deceptive styles. She said even though it looks like cute, hip maternity wear, her belly just didn't fit.Which leads me to wonder. Why is it suddenly cool to look pregnant? At a recent trip to Kohls at least half the tops looked like they belonged in a Motherhood catalog.
I wanted to add: myself included.
Them's fightin' words.....half my wardrobe is tunic-like. And I'm not telling whether they're really maternity or actually somewhat trendy clothes. Seriously, though, its nice to see some styles that don't expect you to either show off your midsection (??????) or fit into size 4 button-fly jeans!
True all, and I should have given a little background here. I purchased said "Tunic" and thought it looked great from the front, but when I caught sight of myself in my bedroom "rear view" mirror, I was taken right back to third trimester days and thought, well, I'd rather not sport that look unless I have to.
I have a couple of Lands' End tunics, and all I have to say is...yes, it kind of looks maternity, but then again, after four pregnancies, my stomach still kind of looks maternity! :) LOL! The tunic hides the pillsbury dough apron of flabby skin, so I'm going with it. :)
I think that's why I like my chef's coat. I have room for my maternal form, not to be hidden, but not to be displayed for all to see either... I am proud to be a mother, I am proud of the rolls that I have, the developped chest that has nursed four little ones, the belly that has stretched, envelopped and welcomed those little ones and the little ones lost...The details of my form though are nothing to details of the lives that these four live...
LOL, a lot of the new fashions do seem to have an unfortunate maternity look!
