Compromise

Trainee: Can you hand me a pull up?

Me: You've been doing so well. Why don't you try wearing underwear today. Hmmm?

Trainee: But...but...I want a pull up.

Me: Don't you want to wear your Thomas the Tank Engine underwear?

Trainee: OK... how 'bout a Thomas the Tank Engine pull up?

Aaah yes! Commercialism. I've got a handful of it here too. Maybe you can convince him that he's a BIGGER kid now and doesn't need the pull-ups anymore. ;)

It's a good thing they don't make a Thomas The Tank Engine pull-up or my four sons still wouldn't be potty trained.

That Thomas underwear worked magic when they were preschoolers. Disney Princesses worked equally well for my eldest daughter.

Seeing as you have so much experience, could you come train my almost 3 year old? I'm getting no where. :)

I'm beginning to believe that Pull Ups are great for helping them sleep through the night and keep the seats clean. But they are NOT good for helping them train faster.

I'm trying to interest the Baby in toilet training - and I'm getting NO WHERE!

You've said it t... I've had more success potty training than "weaning" the children from pull-ups.

We still have those moments, too. My little guy had gotten used to the design on the front of the pull up and was wearing his Thomas briefs backwards so he could see Thomas. The fit isn't quite right that way :)

Suzanne, how old is your trainee?

Two kids, and twice I seem to have fallen into the "try and train them too early and drive yourself nuts" routine. I give up on this one for now! I have a friend with 8 and she waits until they are "good and three". Maybe you should write a potty training tutorial post! :)

mel, the "good and three" rule holds in our house as well. I know others have had success earlier than three and that's great. If I saw signs that earlier would work, I might try earlier.
