The Brothers T

My children have called one another by some interesting names over the years. In an effort to remember some of these, I write them here. Were our life played out in the pages of a Russian novel, these would be our many names...

Simeon: Sim-min, Finni, Siminon, Cinnamon, Sim

Alexander: Aaaah-lex, Axe, Axe-Zander, Axis, Alexi

Jacob: Ja-bop, Ja-cup, Jacobs, Jakey-Rakey, Jake

Zachary: Zachy, Zach-Zach, Gracky, Zach-a-gee, Zach-O,

Nicholas: Nic-O-niss, Nico, Nic-nac, Nickle, Nickers

Title: From the Russian novel The Brothers Karamozov, by Fyodor Dostoevski(often shortened-- in the American way-- to The Brothers K) in which each character has at least seven different names.

Cute. It's funny how nicknames come about---in our family, it seems to be sibling mispronounciation that inspires everyone.

Very Interesting! Especially since my name is Nicholas Temple and I have sons named Nicholas (Nick, Nicky, Noonie, Nikoass) and Robert (Rob, Robbie, Runt, Rattlesnake).

Nick... I have to ask... here did Rattlesnake come from?

Suzanne, those are absolutely adorable. I think my favorite is Siminon, followed closely by Ja-cup.

Cute names! Our two boys were called "Tee" and "Poo" for the longest time by their little sister. We started out calling Stephen "Tee"....then Michael came along and my husband called him "Pooh bear"....then Elizabeth came along and called them "Tee and Poo".....and people really did wonder about our choice of nicknames!!!! :))))))

Yes, Suzanne, the poor kid, when people ask if he has a nick name (no pun intended) he will have to say Nano-nut or Nicko-nut, they are just so fun to say, and he's 7 now. By the way Nano-nut was what he called himself when he was 2, so that is probably our best one! Our current 2 year old is Clare and she calls herself "sare" which is also kind of fun to say! :)

PS you should come to the MN Catholic Homeschooling conference with your sister, I'd love to meet you both!? Is this even a thought?

That's so nice of you jamie, to think of me, but I don't schedule speaking engagements like my sister does. I'd have loved to meet you, too!
